Paola Márquez feat Roni Ben-Hur
This collaboration begins in 2019 with a first meeting.
Searching within experiences and cultures, adapting to times and distances; Always with the clear idea of launching a record production together.
In this meeting a first cover of Fito Paez was recorded, the song “Yo Vengo a ofrecer mi corazón” (I come to offer my heart) with more jazz influence by the hand of maestro Roni Ben-hur who for some time now has been showing great interest in the Latin American music scene. At the same time for Paola a great opportunity to show her skills in jazz without losing its essence. With the collaboration of Cuban saxophonist Juan Carlos Rosquete who is always present in Paola’s projects.
From there came the idea of working on a more extensive repertoire, with the arrival of the pandemic the distances and the times of were lengthened and only at the end of 2022 they managed to meet again, presenting a collection of varied themes, of authors such as Dorival. Caimy, Armando Manzanero and the master Cuchi Legislamon. The latter inspired them and gave them a clearer idea of the direction of this project, which is to delve into the world of Argentine zambas. A genre that is familiar to Paola because despite being Colombian she has a great appreciation and affinity for the Argentine repertoire and that captivated the attention of the jazz musician.
From there Gallop was born, this is a project in progress but that little by little is approaching its moment.
